Are Germans racist?

If you’re a foreigner looking forward to staying in Germany, that was probably the first thing to pop into your head. Especially if you’re on the…browner end of the Skin-tone spectrum.

Although I’ve been living in Germany for only two months, I feel .5 percent qualified to answer that question.

Based on my own personal experience, and the environment in which I’ve been exposed to ever since moving to Germany, I can admit I have felt quite overwhelmed. There’s been a lot for me to get used to within a short span of time, and I have also had to navigate myself through and out of some of my worst fears.

Going out into the world and interacting with authorities. Not just authorities but…people.

In a different language, I must add.

The most effective ways to fight off Anxiety.

That sounds weird, but let’s not distract ourselves from the main topic here.

I can summarize most of my interactions with Germans till now, with taking the train multiple times for 1hr30 + rides, getting lost in a new town, and asking people for directions.

I would rate those experiences, and interactions over 5, a solid 3.

Not a 4 because, there’s still a lot of uncertainty behind the glares, and stares I get which to me are seemingly just due to pure curiosity. I have had people seem uncomfortable when I walked into a room, or stare and talk as though they were gossiping. Most people do smile a lot however and greet if the eye-contact and smile last long enough.

Definitely not a 5, because I don’t know. It just can’t ever be a five, right?

Germany is not Diverse.

Wrong! If anyone told you Germany was not diverse, they are lying to you and probably don’t want you to experience all the great opportunities that Germany has offered them…

Germany is a lot more Internationally diverse than many African nations. I have not left my residence, to venture out into the German world without spotting more than five foreigners on my way to my destination.

It is very diverse.

I suppose that would point to a friendlier, and opposing view point to the notion that “Germany is a racist country”. How could a racist country have so many foreigners, or be allowing so many foreign people—a lot undocumented must I add—into their Country?

I’m not trying to get canceled, but there are points where I feel bad for the Germans. Being ‘bezeichnet’ as Racist, but having to watch their trains, streets, buses, schools, workplaces fill up with ‘foreigners’.

Personally, I do sometimes feel comfort in occasionally seeing and meeting a foreigner like myself or two. However, I can’t help shake off the underlying tone of competition I always seem to sense between us both…

Maybe it’s just me.

Must I add that up on till now, the unfriendliest experience I have had—was definitely not with someone of German decent. I have a feeling the Germans are just a lot more discreet with their…discontent, oder?

Germany feels quite dull and sad.

Sometimes I do think Germans are naturally always angry and mean. Why? Because their Weather is not at all accommodating. It is extremely not a motivating factor for me when getting up in the morning.

I do look around however, and see the ‘blondes’ strolling about, walking their dogs, and shooting out the occasional “Hallo”s.

I’m so annoyingly shy, that I avoid Hallos from evil White people. Dang.

If you’re more of a Sunny weather type of person, don’t like rain that much, and prefer…warmer weather, Germany may be best for you as a transit location…to Spain or something.

I am the Meinung however, that the Weather is something you get used to because, there is an occasional Sun or two, four to five times a month sometimes more. I don’t know I came here in February, it’s April so we’ll see in June (beginning of the Summer Season).

I never thought I’d write or talk about Weather but…here I am. It’s a lot more interesting however, to talk about.

For this reason, I end my Article here!
